Good Grief! Candidate #1: The Shirt

Join me on the upward and windy path toward the pinicle of my achievements so far in this wild land on independent musicianship as I take a deep breath and start preparing my next CD.

It’s already got a title: Good Grief!

That alone should give you some insight into what we’re in for.

Here’s an early version of The Shirt for your consideration. Is the song good for inclusion on the CD? Listen to the song then use the voting buttons in the poll at the bottom of the page to cast your vote! Also, feel free to leave comments in the box provided at the bottom.

  1. great song, I’ve been dredging up some of my old tunes/poems myself and upgrading. I really like the finger picking on this one!! Great job!!

  2. Loved this song since i first heard it – the hooks find their way in whenever I’m messing about on the guitar myself…

  3. Love it! Please include it on the next CD! Please! I’m begging you!

    Two thumbs up.

  4. Thanks guys!!!

Looks like a keeper. It’s a pity the 4 folks who voted that it needed more work didn’t say what. Ha!

    (Thanks for dropping by Nick!)

  5. Love it! Defintely a keeper.
    Great playing and melody.

  6. Wonderful!
Re. “I’m about to throw some out”
I have so many shirts that I’ve implemented a strict one-in/two-out policy. But in your case, please don’t. Or at least, for afficionados, release a parallel B-Sides/rarities/out-takes album of those that didn’t make the Good Grief grade.
    Thanks for sharing,

  7. Hi Ruddy! Thanks for stopping by 🙂

I think you have intuited the whole point of these polls. Too many songs for one record. And… you’ve also intuited that I’m thinking of precisely what you suggest – a release (free album-type download, maybe, to everyone who buys the CD) of songs that didn’t make it. We’re some way from getting to that point but that might be the shape of things come the time…
