What’s this? A blog? A journal? A piece of self-regarding clap-trap??
Probably mixture of all of that but I’ll try keep the last possibility out of it the best I can. If it looks or reads as if I’m failing – just shout… er, leave comment.
The intention in any event is to put a bit of flesh on the bone particularly regarding recording, playing and where I get what I euphemistically call “inspiration” for some of the songs (in other words, what tickles my muse apart from a bottle of robust red wine). Although, when I consider it as I write this, that last is probably best excused by the explanation in parenthasis.
Who do I think will be mostly interested? You, hopefully; otherwise you would probably have clicked yourself away into a more entertaining or useful part of the world wide web. More seriously; I’m occasionally asked at places I play and on internet forums this and that about the songs, aspects of my playing style, and recording techniques. Of course I respond accordingly, but I thought it might serve a purpose if I “cobbled it all together” in a more coherent way.
Most of what I put down here will be “dynamic” and less suited to the “static” pages of my main website. In other words, I may change my mind or intentions regarding certain things (like the title of the next CD).
It also replaces the ill-considered attempt at a Forum on this site. Although a few people and friends joined as said hello and engaged in a couple of conversations it was never a forum in the sense that these things are supposed to be. So I killed it. But this place is still as interactive as folks (you) would like it to be.
Finally – and I’ll freely confess this now – I hope these pages will create interest in the dave-keir.com website in general, and thereby the songs and the CD(s).
So that’s why. I hope it’s reason enough.
I think I’m going to enjoy it.
